With only a few weeks to go before “Vivo” makes its debut on Netflix, a new extended clip from the movie has been released online. The clip in question sees Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Vivo and Ynairaly Simo’s Gabi doing their best to make it through the Florida everglades without a map to guide them. Fortunately, the uncertainty of their situation doesn’t stop either Vivo or Gabi from expressing themselves, with the duo coming together for a Miranda-penned duet called “Keep the Beat.” Not only is the song itself immediately catchy, but the sequence also helps show off the film’s unique animation style and gorgeous world.
The clip is only the second look at “Vivo” that Netflix has released up to this point, following a brief announcement teaser that dropped back in late April. The film itself is the first animated musical feature produced by Sony Pictures Animation, and was originally set to be released in theaters earlier this summer. However, the film’s theatrical release was ultimately canceled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which in turn, led to it finding a new home on Netflix. The good news is that it looks like “Vivo” fits in perfectly well with the streaming platform’s ever-expanding animation library, and this clip just further cements its status as a family-friendly musical worth keeping an eye out for next month.
“Vivo” debuts Friday, August 6th on Netflix.
